ABOUT USOur Beginning:ECOsystems was established in 1995 to "Save Energy and the Environment". We operate as true partners to work with our clients to reduce energy use. Our aim is to be your energy efficiency systems integrator of choice and as such we put the emphasis on practical experience. Rather than rely on theoretical knowledge alone, we aim to ensure you achieve savings by installing the systems and measuring the results. Our national recognition demonstrates our commitment. ECOsystems are corporate members of the Energy Management Association of New Zealand and we employ registered energy auditors. All to improve the service we offer our business partners. We operate throughout New Zealand.

This company achieved considerable success throughout the 1990's before merging with publicly listed Damba Holdings Ltd. Simon took over the Group Managing Director role and the entity achieved in excess of $20 million turnover at its peak before being broken up and sold to private investor groups along with two other businesses within the portfolio in financial services and publishing. The holding company then completed a reverse listing in May 2006 and Simon left the company to develop and list an I.T. company on the Australian Stock Exchange which was completed in December 2007. His business skills across finance, administration, strategy development and building management will add to the strength of ECOsystems management team. Stefan joined our Auckland branch of ECOsystems in 2006 to manage the integration of sound and theatre in building automation for residential and commercial buildings. Stefan brings vast sound and theatre experience to ECOsystems. His previous role with Eastern Hi-Fi involved designing multi-room music and home theatre packages. Stefan has many years design and sales experience as both an employee and a business owner in New Zealand and his native South Africa. His work spans a huge range of products from Denon, Russound, Bose, Invision, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Pioneer to name just a few, and includes Linn for which we are now distributors. Ross relocated from Australia to join the Auckland branch of ECOsystems in 2010. Prior to this Ross owned and ran Powersaver, an energy efficiency company which provided services and supplied energy efficient lighting solutions to government, corporate and listed companies in Australia. Ross is an accredited Green Building Council of Australia Professional, has studied the Masters course in Sustainable Energy at RMIT University in Melbourne (receiving the award for highest academic achievement in 2009), the Graduate Diploma in Sustainability from Swinburne University, and holds a Diploma in Financial Planning. Prior to Powersaver Ross owned and ran a large catering business which was awarded the national Australian Achievers award for the highest standard of customer service in the hospitality sector. Ross enjoys family life, photography, history, growing fruit and vegetables and is looking forward to an Aussie win at the World Cup. Mike joined us in 2009 and comes from an electrical background with an NZCE in Electronics and Computers. Mike has an extensive background in the UPS, power electronics, power factor correction and electrical contracting fields. From 2001 to 2009 Mike was with Genesis Energy, ending up as the Sales Manager - Major Business. Mike has completed numerous qualifications in business, management and sales and has a successful track record at a senior level in selling, marketing and new B2B development. He is also experienced in negotiating and managing contracts for both HV and LV power products and turn key projects to both the energy and petrochemical industries, nationally and internationally. Mike is a registered electrician who has 15 years experience in the commercial and industrial fields, including commercial installations, new and refurbished laboratory installations, hazardous areas, power factor correction, control systems and UPS servicing. Other experience in the industry includes project management, design, quantity surveying and contract management. Mike has a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Trade). Interests include rugby, indoor sports and mountain biking. He also enjoys spending time with his partner and 11 year old son. Kevin joined ECOsystems in 2004 and is currently working with us part time as he builds his new family home. André Cormack, Energy Efficiency Integrator
André joins us bringing with him many years of experience in the electrical engineering and factory automation field. He has been involved in various industries including high voltage substation installations, heavy industry, and automotive safety glass manufacturing in native South Africa. Over the last ten years in NZ, he has gained knowledge in electronic component manufacturing, dairy industry and lastly, edible oils. Main functions included modifications to equipment, faultfinding, instrumentation and control upgrades. Married for 26 years to René, interests include spearfishing, trips on his motorcycle and working on his speech for his daughter's wedding. Jon joined ECOsystems in 2009 as an account manager and energy services engineer. Jon has NZCE in mechanical engineering (HVACR) and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with the Association of Engineers in the USA. Jon is a building services engineer with 20 years experience in the industry. He began as an engineering cadet in NZ and qualified with NZCE before working in London as a commissioning engineer. He returned to NZ to commission the Sky City Casino and Te Papa (among other projects) and soon after began working in the controls field. As part of this work Jon has completed contracts in the NZ, US, UK, Dubai and Greece and was responsible for engineering, programming and commissioning on various projects. During a recent contract in the US he qualified as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and is the only engineer in NZ to hold this qualification. Jon has been working for ECOsystems since April '09. Jon also enjoys travel and is a filmmaker in his spare time being involved in music videos, documentaries and short films. Keith has a background of many years in instrumentation and controls. He has had extensive involvement with a number of large sites and gained a great deal of experience in areas such as iron sand mining and high rise building systems. His role with ECOsystems is in the design and implementation of building automation systems. Outside of work, Keith's interests keep him busy which include photography, music and motor-sports, not to mention a wife and two adult daughters. Adam began his career with ECOsystems in February 2010 after graduating from Cardiff University, UK, with a BEng(Hons) in Mechnical Engineering and an MSc in Sustainable Energy and Environment. He is developing analytical tools and spreadsheets to improve the automation of the continuous commissioning process, whilst gaining firsthand experience of energy use in commercial properties under the wing of our experienced team. Le Roux Nel joined ECOsystems in May 2008. Le Roux worked as a mechanical engineer in several countries then returned to South Africa in 2004 where he established his brick manufacturing company, Bricks 4 Africa. He sold the company in January 2008 to migrate with his family to New Zealand. Le Roux forms part of our CC team responsible for the development and implementation of continuous energy optimisation management systems in large commercial buildings. Mike is a registered electrician who has 10 years experience in the commercial field, including alarm systems, CCTV, access control systems, C-Bus installations and installation of cellular phone towers. More recently he was working in mechanical HVAC electrical dealing in installation of electronic controls. Mike has a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Trade). Danny joined ECOsystems in 2010. He has a background in mechanical engineering as well as a BSc in Energy Studies from Otago University. He has spent time at EECA providing technical advice as well as managing contracts for commercial and domestic renewable energy upgrades. Gary joined ECOsystems in February 2009 in our Auckland Office. He has a MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology with an additional paper in Security Technology and Intelligence Studies. He has a 20+ year record of effective communication with engineers and installation personnel to optimize commercial HVAC project success. He was responsible for engineering designs for heating, air conditioning, ventilation, security, lighting retrofits and lighting control systems. He also managed the commissioning, troubleshooting and training of facility personnel in the operation of these systems. Gary is experienced in the use of a wide variety of electrical and electronic test equipment, programming languages and tools; including Fortran, C, Java, Basic, Python, HTML, vi, scp, putty, AutoCAD, and various proprietary languages for use with automated control systems, PPCL, Visual Logic, Basic, and others. Ian is a registered electrician and has held positions as an electrician (domestic and commercial), electrical fitter, fire alarms technician and photocopier technician. Ian worked for 9 years at Ubix working on high volume and colour photocopiers, interfacing photocopiers onto networks and maintaining photocopier access and account management systems. Ian has Advanced Trades (A, C and D) and finished a Bachelor of Computer Systems degree at the Eastern Institute of Technology in 2002. Ian joined us in 2005 and manages energy audits and energy efficiency contracts. Prior to joining ECOsystems Heather held various Accounting roles in Shipping, Superannuation and Car sales, so brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. Heather is married to Don and has three sons aged twelve, seven and five. Her interests include playing and watching football, and is also the Junior Convenor of the Naenae Soccer Club.
