Hot Water from Thin Air!

The most efficient way of heating hot water. Technically, the Quantum is a heat pump. Refrigerant runs through the air-conditioning coil and, because the refrigerant is colder than air, it collects heat energy from the air passing through the coil to save you more energy. It works on the same basis as your refrigerator or heat pump.

The Quantum is ideal for residential homes, hotels / motels, boarding homes and schools, multi-tenanted properties, rest homes, hair salons and many industrial applications. Anyone who uses a lot of hot water or is environmentally conscious should consider a quantum.

There has been ongoing development since the 1970's and the air-sourced models have recently been extensively upgraded with an improved evaporator design and de icing system. This means the solar boosted panel models are no longer required.

The Quantum has a number of advantages over other water heaters and these include;

• It uses around ¼ of the energy of a conventional electric cylinder
• Where electric cylinders typically have a yearly average efficiency of 76% and gas 65%, Quantum's are more than 300%!
• Quantum's have lower CO2 emissions than both gas and electricity
• Probably the most economical and efficient 24 hour hot water system available anywhere
• Runs on the environmentally friendly 134A refrigerant
• Produce up to 1600 litres of hot water per day
• Unlike solar systems the Quantum does not require sun or a booster element
• Because the Quantum uses so little electricity it can be run on an uncontrolled tariff. If energy prices continue to rise you won't be without hot water!
• The technology is the same as in your fridge or heat pump / air conditioning systems - well proven!
• Easily retrofitted in most existing homes
• Unlike other water heaters the heat throughout the cylinder varies only a few degrees

How does it work?

The Quantum works just like your refrigeration, but in reverse. The air-sourced Compact Solar models have a built in evaporator. The only electricity required is to run a pump similar to the one in your fridge. For every unit of energy used it can deliver between 3 to 6 units of hot water energy!

What models are available and what do they cost?

We have the (270-ACH-134) 270 litre Turbo Air Sourced model, the (340-ACH-134) 340 litre T2 Air Sourced (small and large capacity) and the Titan Split System 340-TIH-134 available.
